After meeting him and explained what was going on, he did a very thorough scan of the boys and said they are growing perfectly with no abnormalities! Praise God! He also said they are measuring 19wks and 1 day and 19 wks and 4 days which is a little ahead of schedule so that's good! All in all the boys are perfect! After the scan of the boys he did a vaginal exam to look at my cervix to see how open it was. Last week we were told I did not have enough cervix to put in a cerclage and he said the complete opposite which is great! He said the length of my cervix was 1.72 and 3-4 was a normal cervix length. He said we need to do the procedure tonight and get the cerclage in immediately. He also said that doing the procedure was be better than not doing it. He did still say that it was a risky procedure but if I was going to go into pre-term labor, I would with or without the cerclage. Of course, we chose to do it! He then did an exam with his hand and said my cervix was not open from the outside which is great news! God is so good!
The nurses rushed me over to the building across from where we were to get me signed in so we could get going and within an hr I was in the OR ready to go! Every nurse in the OR and the anesthesiologist were so nice and assured me that I was with the best! So comforting to hear. Next thing I knew I was awake as they were wheeling me back to recovery and I was feeling great. A little cramping but that was expected! They wheeled me to a recovery room and gave me some juice and water and said when I go to the restroom I could go home. Shawn, my dad, and Zac met me in there and they were surprised I was feeling so great! Zac said it was because I was a Henderson but Shawn corrected him and said it was because I was a Bell ;) either way we all felt so much better. I did not get to see Dr. Kirshon afterwards because it was so late but he did talk to my family and said this...
Surgery went wonderfully.
Doctor was "cautiously optimistic."
Gave odds of:
50 percent chance of getting to 32 weeks.
75 percent chance of getting to 28 weeks.
These odds were doubled as a result of the successful stitch procedure.
Not out of the woods yet, but definitely in better shape as a result of this procedure!!!
So praise God for another successful day and praise God for Dr. Kirshon! I go back in two weeks for a checkup and we have decided to go ahead and let him deliver the boys. We feel comfortable in his work and know we are in good hands. Bed rest continues, which I am fine with. Anything that helps our boys. My dad is here this week and has been amazing and such a trooper. I think he might have forgotten how much a pregnant woman eats ;)
Thank you all for your constant prayers and loving us and our boys. We have definitely felt them and we are so thankful and blessed to have wonderful family and friends to get us through this time! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!
P.S. We have given the boys names... Cannon Alan Bell and Braxton Alan Bell!!!
PRAISE THE LORD! We will continue to pray for God's protective hands will cover these two precious baby boys! And for His strength, courage and comfort to cover you, Shawn and your entire families! YAY for Dr. Kirshon!
